IN WITH THE IN-CROWD AT THE 2014 RADIO DISNEY MUSIC AWARDS

October 10,2015

If the Disney Channel is your favorite TV destination for shows like “Phineas and Ferb,” “Gravity Falls” and “Dog with a Blog” and your live stream is tuned to Radio Disney to hear your favorite songs from Austin Mahone, R5 and Zendaya, then the RDMAs are the award show for you! Even if that’s not you, you probably know someone or became a parent to someone like this right around the new millennium.

The Radio Disney Music Awards might be a definitive tween and teen event, but it’s held at a very grown-up venue, the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live, which is like the Taj Mahal for award shows. The RDMAs have been going strong since 2002. This year’s Radio Disney bash is taking place on April 26, 2014, and music award tickets for seats in the first 20 rows of the orchestra section are still available from www.VIPAwardShowTickets.com. Guests who are in the in-crowd are treated to dazzling red carpet entrances, mesmerizing performances and special appearances from the likes of Ryan Seacrest, Ellen DeGeneres, Carly Rae Jepsen and Justin Bieber.

The Performers and Presenters

The folks who show up for their chance to grab a golden Mickey Mouse trophy aren’t the only attractions. This year’s award show boasts performances from Radio Disney faves Fifth Harmony, Zendaya, Becky G and the band R5, which is led by singing sensation Ross Lynch. Jason Ritter, who voices the “Gravity Falls” character Dipper, is presenting awards along with Julianne Hough, teen heartthrob Cody Simpson, Maia Mitchell of “The Fosters,” Lucy Hale of “Pretty Little Liars” and Latina singer Jessica Sanchez. Even the pre-show is packed full of awesome performances by McClain, Alex Angelo, Megan Nicole and (shriek!) The Vamps!

The Nominees

At the RDMAs it’s all about the fans and their favorites. Voting is already closed, but we have the inside scoop on the nominees. Becky G, The Vamps and Celeste Buckingham are vying for the Best New Artist title while Ariana Grande and Zendaya are battling it out in the Breakout Artist category, which is pretty cool, since Zendaya presented that award last year with her DWTS partner Val Chmerkovskiy. In addition to fun categories like best dance song and best road trippin’ tune, the RMDAs have awards for the year’s best band, song and performer.

For Best Male Vocalist, the contenders are Justin Timberlake, Cody Simpson and Austin Mahone. One Direction, R5 and Emblem3 are up for Best Group, and female phenoms Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato and Katy Perry are up for Best Female Vocalist. Double nominees Katy Perry and One Direction have a chance to snag a Best Song trophy for “Roar” and “Best Song Ever” respectively, but they have some tough competition from Selena Gomez’s infectious “Come & Get It.”

No matter who you want to win, the Radio Disney Music Awards are fun for the whole family. What better way to celebrate a great report card or to get back at your brothers and sisters for sending their cute nieces and nephews to your house for spring break?! Either way, parents have the power to put an end to that incessant nagging but picking up a pack of music award tickets before it’s too late. We have confirmations that there’s no better bargaining chip for getting those pesky chores done than sending your little ones to the award show of their dreams. From clean family-friendly fun to great music and stunning performances, the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards have it all. Be there on April 26, or face your children’s wrath for the rest of the summer. You know what that’s going to be like.
