They’re Back! VIP Tickets to the 2026 BET Awards!

When Did the BET Awards Start?
Next year marks the 26th anniversary of the legendary Black Entertainment Television Awards, so it’s going to be an extra-special celebration. The first event was held at the Paris casino and resort in Las Vegas way back in 2001. Outkast won the very first shooting star trophy at the first award ceremony. (You can even watch a video of the special moment on YouTube.) Apart from its inaugural year in Vegas, the event has been held in Los Angeles ever since. Go Angelenos!

Who Performs at the BET Awards?
Wow! The BET Awards has one of the most incredible performance lineups of any award show. You just might think you’re at a concert or music festival! One thing’s for sure. This award show isn’t only about the trophies. For 2025, performers at the BET Awards included GloRilla, Leon Thomas, Lil Wayne, Keyshia Cole, AND … so many more. Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, Kirk Franklin and Jamie Foxx were on board to receive their Ultimate Icon Awards. The music even started before the award show! A pre-show concert featuring the 803fresh hit “Boots on the Ground” kicked off the fun during the Red Carpet Live pre-show.
The BET Awards also celebrated the hip-hop countdown show 106 & Park with performances from Ashanti, Jim Jones, Amerie, Mya, B2k, Bow Wow and more! Surprise collabs celebrated R&B legends like Quincy Jones, Roberta Flack and Angie Stone. Seriously?! How did they have time to pack all this into one award show and one venue?! Other Stars at the BET Awards
While the BET Awards totally knock it out of the park when it comes to music, they also honor individuals for their achievements in sports, acting and more. Angel Reese and Jalen Hurts scored trophies for Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year. Denzel Washington was named Best Actor, and the lovely Cynthia Erivo claimed best actress, ahead of strong competitors like Angela Bassett, Coco Jones, Keke Palmer, Kerry Washington, Viola Davis and Zendaya. Tough choices!

This year, the BET Awards are expected to return to the Peacock Theater, one of the most popular venues in L.A. for concerts and A-list award shows.
