When Are the 2027 ESPY Awards?
The 2027 ESPY® Awards are expected to be held on Wednesday, July 14th, 2027 (estimated date). Last year, the event was held at the David H. Koch Theatre at Lincoln Center in New York City, home of the New York City Ballet. It was moved from L.A. to coincide with the network’s Fanatics Fest. Organizers have not announced if the award show is staying in the Big Apple or returning to more traditional venues in L.A. We’ll keep you updated when we have more details.
Naturally, the biggest plays, most unexpected upsets and record-breaking wins are celebrated. However, the ESPY® Awards don’t just celebrate sports achievements. They honor the competitive spirit as well as instances of strength, determination and perseverance that go beyond sports. They’ve even handed out awards to the most accomplished athletes with disabilities. This award show is downright inspirational!

Who’s Hosting the 2027 ESPY® Awards?
There’s no info yet on who will be hosting the 2027 ESPY® Awards, but it’s sure to be great. The award show has had a surprising variety of sports stars and comedians host in recent years.
- In 2024, the award show was hosted by retired tennis champ Serena Williams. She did a phenomenal job entertaining the crowd while managing seven different wardrobe changes, and she even sang a song for her former competitor Maria Sharapova! It was a tough act to follow.
- In 2025, stand-up comedy veteran and podcaster Shane Gillis hosted, and we’re still not sure if he was up for the job. From jokes about the president to the players’ wives, no topic was off-limits. And when his jokes bombed. Gillis didn’t take responsibility. No, he blamed the writers and even the audience!
- Fast-forward to 2026 when SNL star Marcello Hernández emceed the event. He was the first Latino to host the award show in over 25 years. He kicked off the ceremony with a sizzling SNL-style monologue that poked fun at Tiger Woods, Jake Paul, Bill Belichick and especially last year’s host Shane Gillis.
We’ll just have to wait to see who ESPN selects for next year. Maybe they’ll go with a lovable sports star like Peyton Manning (hopefully, not a Kelce!). After all, Manning has a top-notch track record on the field and hosting A-list events like the CMA Awards. Or they might select another comedian from ABC’s stable. It could be someone like Jimmy Kimmel, Tim Allen or even Abbott Elementary’s Lisa Ann Walter, who has her own standup routine and specials. We’ll be sure to let you know who’s hosting and who’s performing as soon as we find out.
Who Are the Nominees for the 2027 ESPY® Awards?

We expect to see fan favorites like Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Brock Purdy, breakout NASCAR driver Christopher Bell, snowboarder Chloe Kim and sister act Alex and Gretchen Walsh. We’ll keep you updated when the full list of nominees is released.
