They’re Back! VIP Tickets to the 2027 BET Awards in L.A.!

When Did the BET Awards Start?
Next year marks the 27th anniversary of the legendary Black Entertainment Television Awards, so it’s going to be an extra-special celebration. The first event was held at the Paris casino and resort in Las Vegas (you know the one with the Eiffel Tower replica) way back in 2001. Outkast won the very first shooting star trophy at the first award ceremony. (You can even watch a video of the special moment on YouTube.) Apart from its inaugural year in Vegas, the event has been held in Los Angeles ever since. Go Angelenos!

Who Performs at the BET Awards?
Wow! The BET Awards has one of the most incredible performance lineups of any major award show. You just might think you’re at a concert or music festival! One thing’s for sure. This award show isn’t only about the trophies. For 2026, performers at the BET Awards included Zion and YG Marley, The War and Treaty, Selah, Raye, Nas, Queen Latifah, Lizzo, George Clinton, Kehlani, Doja Cat, Doechii, Common, Cardi B. AND … so many more.
Kelly Rowland was on hand to present to the Ultimate Icon Award to Sylvia Rhone, the first African-American executive at a major record label. The killa music even started before the award show! A pre-show concert hosted by Bow Wow and other celebrity friends kicked off the fun during the Red Carpet Live pre-show. Seriously?! How did they have time to pack all this into one award show and one venue?! You’ll just have to get yourself some tickets to find out.
Other Stars at the BET Awards
While the BET Awards totally knock it out of the park when it comes to music, they also honor individuals for their achievements in sports, acting and more. Basketball stars A’ja Wilson and Jalen Brunson scored trophies for Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year, beating out a tough field of competitors that included Angel Reese, Flau’jae Johnson, Coco Gauff, Gabby Thomas, Jordan Chiles, Naomi Osaka as well as Jalen Hurts, LeBron and Steph Curry.
Sinners star Michael B. Jordan was named Best Actor, and Golden Globe-winner Teyana Taylor claimed best actress, ahead of strong competitors like Angela Bassett, Aya Edebiri, Chase Infiniti, Coco Jones, Keke Palmer, Quinta Brunson and last year’s winner Cynthia Erivo. Ugh! Tough choices!
Where Are 2027 BET Awards?
This year, the BET Awards are expected to return to the Peacock Theater on June 27, 2027. It’s one of the most popular venues in L.A. for concerts and A-list award shows. The Grammys, The AMAs, The ESPYs and the People’s Choice Awards have all used this phenomenal event center! Since the BET Awards marks its 27th anniversary, this is sure to be a celebration like no other! BET is a powerhouse media brand. Like the NAACP Image Awards, this event has good vibes, real heart and a sense of self-belief that makes it worthwhile every year.
Although the music is a big highlight, for me, the coolest thing about this award show is that it recognizes the best of the best talent across multiple disciplines. It’s not just singing and dancing. It’s the athleticism of sports. The subtle shift as stars perfectly embody the character we are watching and understanding. Basically, if it’s anything that you watch at home or at the theater, with your friends, or just hanging out with the family. It’s on TV. It’s at the BET Awards. Amen!
